Way too many people conveniently forget his grossness here. Sure, he technically apologized later on, but he was still misogynistic enough to do this in the first place, so…

@realMaalouf Oh right yes, this young girl will have to cover herself for the rest of her life for a misogynistic religion catered to men, so fun yes

Margaret Theresa of Spain was born in 1651, she was the daughter of King Philip IV of Spain and one of the most recognizable princesses of the Spanish Habsburg court. Like many royal girls of her time, her future was shaped by dynasty before she was old enough to choose it.
In 1666, at just 15 years old, Margaret Theresa married her uncle, Emperor Leopold I. The match was meant to strengthen Habsburg power and keep royal bloodlines tightly bound within the family. As empress, she faced immediate pressure to produce heirs.
Margaret Theresa was pregnant seven times in just a few years. She gave birth four times, suffered miscarriages, and only one child survived to adulthood: Maria Antonia of Austria.
In 1673, four months into her seventh pregnancy, Margaret Theresa died.
She was only 21 years old.
