@SomethingRibald We built a cushion but never got it to the point like Liverpool last season where you discourage the opposition. Couple more wins in the winter time like Wolves would have discouraged City enough that we dont have a problem today

@ArsenalView_ Our strategy was to add ‘winter fat’ to withstand the brutal fall/winter schedule a bit better, so that the stars would be ready to go for win time. We did withstand the cold months better than City and built a nice cushion, but the starters never got fit.

@NorthsideGooner @SomethingRibald If we thought Gyokeres or Madueke were an equivalent option and not backups, then we have a much bigger problem.

@ArsenalView_ @SomethingRibald We paid the exact same for Gyökeres as we paid for Havertz (which was £20M more than we paid for Jesus.) The other two are on higher wager because they were established big-club PL starters when we bought them. Gyökeres was brought in to compete with Kai.

@NorthsideGooner @SomethingRibald Madueke and Gyokeres are clear back ups if you compare them against the primary person they are competing with and their relative wages

@ArsenalView_ @SomethingRibald Everyone else, the expectation was that they were going to be able to perform in big games. Madueke has not done so. Eze... intermittently. Gyökeres has been a flat track bully, but where would we be without his 20 goals? Mosquera was, strictly speaking, a backup - with upside.

I’ve felt our buildup looks weird for a while tbh, neither of the holding midfielders come deep to collect the ball and we don’t use an IWB anymore. You get this huge space where the next passing option should be.

@SomethingRibald Don't know if you remember, but Elliot called this out when he did the scouting video of Zubi. Got shut down by everyone, so he kind of retracted, but he was on point that this doesn't look like a tempo setting midfielder
