In Tigray, there is a saying “ሕማቕ መገላገሊ; መቃተሊ" which means “A bad peacemaker (mediator) leads to people killing each other”. We are forced to witness such devastation and we don’t even know what is to come. We are robbed of our past, present and our future!

What our families are living through is an untold siege in Tigray. People are lining up in banks begging to withdraw their hard-earned money. Those who can withdraw money are allowed to withdraw only $5 (1,000 birr) after lining up in front of the bank all day

I would never understand why these politicians keep showing up on religious holidays, creating commotion, and with the desire to show their importance. If anything, they should be banned from any religious and social holidays. n/n

These politicians attend religious events not as believers among believers, but as symbols of authority seeking legitimacy, borrowing moral capital from faith institutions. This is especially jarring in communities that have endured trauma, conflict, and loss. 3/n

Two years ago, I was in Shire for the Holy Trinity Religious holiday. When Debretsion and Getachew arrived at the church, the security personnel attempted to clear the way for their vehicles, accompanied by patrols armed with machine guns. Believers showed their disdain 1/n

Dear @KenyaAirports: A passenger lost a valuable painting at Nairobi JKIA. @AssefaSamrawit misplaced a painting depicting the horrors of the Tigray War and the massive use of sexual assault as weapon of war. The painting is of immense value to her and many survivors of the war. Close to 120k women suffered sexual violence in Tigray.
