@13doots That’s so good!! If it’s to be a a 16:9 ratio though I think it should’ve done less vertical stacking and take up more white space, things are a bit small, nevertheless it’s very good!

@KorduGG @morganlinton My first was a refurbished MacBook I got at BestBuy. It lasted 10 years, well the Ram gave out and I could've replaced it, but I used that as an excuse to get a new Mac 🤣 previously I'd buy a new cheap Compaq/HP for.. ~$400? every... 2years? Never ever touching Windows again.

@leeschmidt123 @brotzky He said in this thread that he did it all via Claude CLI, no IDE. He didn't mention what model(s) he used though.

"AI slop" or "vibe coding" is so wrong. I spent the weekend making my site stupid fast. Results? Instant page loads, no stale data, and the fastest app I've ever built. All the little details 🧵

@bomintj @hemzadev @grok Google it, but Mythos is Anthropic’s super powerful model, that’s so powerful that it’s not publicly available, they offer a slightly dumber version available for certain companies/government to test. So… we truly don’t know how it is.

Lane || Boot.dev@wagslane·
I literally can't win with pronouns on Boot dev, it's insane. We have people cancel over NOT using "they" in lesson text and people cancelling over us USING "they". > In one of your lessons you refer to a single person named "Logan" using the third person plural pronoun. > > At this point without assurances that the developers intend to correct the course material to correctly use the grammatically correct generic masculine as the correct generic pronoun, I have no interest in financially supporting the intentional cultural vandalism of my personal linguistic heritage Here's your refund, you won't be missed. I DON'T CARE about this. I don't care. WHY DO PEOPLE CARE. These are not real people in the lesson text. They're genderless EXAMPLES. Sometimes we say he/she, sometimes we say they, it depends on context and which maintainer happened to update it last. wwhwhhwyyyyy dooooo weee careeee sooo much. get a life.

@wagslane Sounds like y'all were trying to navigate the issue, to please all, but ended up pleasing no one 🤦‍♂️ Before this post, I would've thought that Boot.dev would be adherent to strict and proper usage of pronouns. I hope y'all learned and stick to you guns now 💪

@shamxcount @cixliv You haven't seen Robot Wars / Battle Bots? Humans building robots for competition has been around for quite some time. I graduated in '06 and even my high school had a robotics team. However, the impressiveness here is having a "humanoid" robot actual run + the team work 🔥

Your streaming device is watching you watch. Researchers crawled more than 2,000 Roku and Amazon Fire TV channels and found traffic to known trackers on 69% of Roku channels and 89% of Fire TV channels. They documented collection of persistent identifiers including device IDs, serial numbers, WiFi MAC addresses, and SSIDs, and concluded the built in ad tracking limits on those platforms were practically ineffective. The tracking infrastructure has only grown since. The mechanism most people have never heard of is Automatic Content Recognition. ACR fingerprints the audio and video frames playing on your screen and matches them against a database. And it does not stop at apps running on the TV. Vizio's own policy says its Viewing Data can cover content playing on the display and identify connected devices including a streaming stick. Sony documents that Samba TV, when enabled, can recognize content from set top boxes, Blu-ray players, Roku, and Apple TV over HDMI. The honest ranking on platform privacy. Apple TV sits at the top, narrowly. Apple does NOT document ACR on the Apple TV box. App Tracking Transparency forces third party apps to ask before tracking. Apple is not invisible though. The Apple TV app itself collects playback, search, purchase, and connected app activity for personalization unless you turn off Use Play History and disconnect connected apps. Roku is middle tier. Smart TV Experience uses ACR when enabled, and you can turn off Use Info from TV Inputs and reset the advertising ID. The device still exists to sell ads. Google TV is also middle tier, for a different reason. Setup requires a Google Account. Recommendations pull from watch activity, connected streaming services, and entertainment searches tied to that account. Apps only mode still shows sponsored content, and ads cannot be turned off entirely. Only the ad ID can be reset. Fire TV is last. Amazon openly sells sponsored rows, feature rotators, sponsored tiles, and sponsored screensavers as Fire TV ad products, and Amazon's help pages expose ACR and over the air viewing data controls on Fire TV smart TVs rather than avoiding the capability altogether. If you do one thing tonight: disable the panel's viewing data feature.
