In fact they were this close to make full blown CSAM but they had the law on their asses about it so they didn’t. The movie does a terrible job and is one of the main contributors of so many misinterpretations of Lolita as a story

No, both movies did a shit job adapting the novel, not only do they age up Dolores, the 90s movie exploits the main actress, Humbert is completely mischaracterized and Adrian Lyne the director sees the story as a romantic one.

@yurithraa @sillykittz True, honestly. The lolita 1997 movie actually does a great job of adapting the story (in my opinion). But there are way too many moral concerns to make a movie “properly.”
