After a night of shooting and 3 months of processing, I can finally call my favorite shot to date complete. Hope you guys enjoy it as much as I do :)

Me and my friend discovered a nebula in the sky just as large as the andromeda Galaxy! This is the lightning bolt nebula

Working on editing an image today of a supernova remnant I discovered with a friend! It is almost 3 degrees long which makes it bigger than the andromeda Galaxy in angular size

@TasmanSkies @astrofalls LTT shows how this sort of thing can be navigated. Ultimately the value in a reviewer is the trust, and if a reviewers motives aren't made clear (such as money changing hands), then that gets eroded.

@astrofalls Linus Tech Tips manages this well: a review video may have an embedded advert, but that will be for a different product/service paying for the production. Companies can pay money to do a ‘sponsored video’ of a product but this is clearly differentiated from a ‘review’

Any astro YouTubers here charge telescope companies for producing reviews? I’ve been thinking about the ethics of it, if you aren’t paid for your time to produce such content, the only way you make money on it is affiliate money on the backend. Thus you better produce a good review or you will have wasted your time. Not to mention even appearing on a YouTube channel is exposure, which should be fairly paid for. It seems to me the most fair way would be to charge for the time/expertise/exposure, and not be concerned about making sales to be paid, inevitably skewing a review positively. Anyways we should start an astrophotographers union

@astrofalls What you described is a sponsored video, and happens fairly regularly on tech channels (such as LTT). Just gotta be open about if money is calling it, and make sure to not call it a review, even if your opinion is honest. Reviews are only as valuable as the trust the viewer has.

Inferno Showcasing the B&C telescope situated at Mount John Observatory, a 61cm RC usually operated at F6.25. It's a student favourite because it takes the best photos off all the telescopes at the observatory, while also being the easiest to use.
