It explicitly taught dual covenant theology.

@CoreyJMahler I had a Neo-Arian try to argue against Christs divinity yesterday by appealing to the fact that Christ says he must ascend to the Father, meaning he isn’t the Father. He couldn’t wrap his head around the fact Trinitarians also believe the Son and Father are distinct persons.

They can only put out pastoral memos/talking points that aren’t binding. Doctrinal authority in Catholicism rests with the Magisterium.

That makes it even worse, since you either weren’t paying attention, or you had a poor education. You claimed we throw out “all holy tradition,” which is so insane of a statement that it betrays not even a cursory knowledge of Protestantism. Lutherans keep the liturgical calendar, keep the Mass, retain the sacraments, and unlike your Roman sect, don’t teach the Old Covenant is still in effect for the Jews.

You don’t get to just throw out some of the Bible, all of holy tradition, the entire magisterium and then claim you’re still practicing the faith. Either there is a faith to practice or there is not.

I mean, you could investigate EO, Anglicanism, Lutheranism, etc. It’s incredibly unintelligent to assume that if Romes claims about itself can’t stand up to scrutiny that Christ is to be abandoned. It also highlights just how much you overate your ability to discern these issues. Have some humility.

That’s arguably more terminal than attempting to find other ways of making sense of Christianity when one way is exposed as insufficient.
