What is wrong with the IRS? Is anyone working over there? This was written by my parent’s accountant. They are in their 70’s. Look at the list of things that they have done to try to resolve this audit. They have sent the IRS a 300 page packet through multiple services including fax and certified mail, and the IRS has continuously claimed non-receipt, saying it doesn’t matter if the packet was signed for. Now they are placing a lien on my parent’s properties after a blanket denial of all of their schedule c expenses. They have paid their accountant over $5,000 so far this audit with no end in sight and the IRS is clearly not doing their job. Any ideas what to do at this point? They are looking at tax attorneys in California, which will (obviously) add to their burden. For this matter, my DM’s are open.
