On a Saturday afternoon, in a busy park filled with families and dog walkers, PD Pumba was tasked with searching for a discarded weapon used to threaten a victim. Pumba worked through multiple distractions and located both a bladed article and heavy tool used by the suspect 💪

This week we say a fond farewell to Molly and Bonnie, a sister duo who have served with us for the last 5 years with their respective handlers. We hope they have a long, healthy and happy retirement 🐾💙

This week we welcome 4 new colleagues to the Dog Unit. Congratulations to (clockwise from top left) PDs Chip, Rex, Groot & Ace and their handlers on passing their initial course - soon to be hitting the streets of Beds, Cambs and Herts!

PD Bonnie conducted a search of gardens after a suspect wanted for domestic violence offences made off from the scene. His hide and seek skills were no match for Bonnie's nose and he was located performing a 'plank' on top of a wall. How appropriate!

Introducing a fleeing criminal's worst nightmare - Airsharks! Our Firearm Support Dogs had the opportunity to team up with our airbourne colleagues today. PDs Armour and Bear took a ride with @NPASSouthEast to experience flight in advance of any necessity to deploy from the air!

PD Cleo was asked is assist with a High Risk DA offender who left the scene in Meppershall. From his last sighting near to the house, PD Cleo has tracked through a play area, farm tracks and into fields where she has located the offender. 1 Arrested. 🐕🐾#bedspolice #hertspolice

Today we're celebrating International Dog Day! Our dogs are an integral part of keeping our three counties safe, supporting our frontline colleagues at a huge variety of incidents. From all of our hardworking pooches to all of your dogs at home - Happy International Dog Day!

Another 22 year veteran retires! We say goodbye to PDs Sabre & Fred, with their butler Deano. Sadly Fred didn't quite make it to retirement, but we know that Deano gave him a great career & life and he & Sabre will look out for each other as they begin their life on the outside!

This week we say goodbye to 2 of our police dogs - PD Kev and PD Albie - who retire along with their chauffeur Mark, who himself has served as a police officer for 30 years, 22 of them on the dog unit. Thank you for your service. We hope you all have a long and happy retirement!

We had a great day showcasing the Dog Unit and other specialisms at @DenbighHigh last week. It was great to talk about what the teams do, to help protect our community 🐶

Last night, PD Xena and her handler were dispatched to reports of a stabbing in Flitwick Bedfordshire. The suspect fled the scene on foot and Xena tracked from the last sighting to their location leading to #OneInCustody for attempted murder. Great work by PD Xena!

Twice in one night for PD Cleo. With a vehicle FTS for police and a decamp in Luton, PD Cleo has tracked from the vehicle along a road and into a wooded area to find 2 males trying to pretend they were trees. PD Cleo was on their tail and found them, 2 Arrested 🚓🐕🐾

PD Cleo and handler @Bchdogunit assisted the @Met in locating a male in Radlett that had made off and tried to play hide and seek under someone’s car after he had decamped from his. PD Cleo 1, Suspect 0. 🐕🚔🐾

Last night, PD Boz and his handler were hot on the heels of a person who ran from a stolen vehicle. They thought that hiding in the woods 30ft up a tree would save them from capture. **Spoiler alert** - it didn't. #TheNoseKnows
