Me & @BadBiologist just got back from a mini boat trip and I can even explain what we saw. 5 species of cetacean, breaching/feeding tuna, and a porbeagle shark. Harbour porpoises, commons, Risso's, multiple fin whales, AND white beaked dolphins!! Photos and videos incoming...

‼️TW: Graphic Imagery ‼️ Stole this vid of an orca predating on a whale shark off of fb 🔗👇 They are displaying v similar behaviour to Port and Starboard, but in the Sea of Cortez. It seems the first orca is distracting the WS while the second removes the liver! Fascinating.

🎵🚨 Well, I’m hot blooded, check it and see…🎵🚨 Despite always been known as being cold blooded, basking sharks are actually regionally endothermic like their close relatives great whites! 🔥🦈🔥 Check out my second PhD chapter here: doi.org/10.3354/esr012…

I'm sure you've heard: the orcas are up to something. But then, orcas are always up to something. I wrote about these baffling giants – and Britain's mysterious, imperilled resident pod – for this weekend's @TelegraphMag. telegraph.co.uk/news/2023/07/1…
