I’m leaving Liquipedia as a volunteer this week, both on website editing and hosting @LiquipediaRL. It wasn’t an easy decision to make, but ultimately it’s the right choice. I am proud of the I platform I helped build over the last 7 years both on the wiki and on this social media platform, becoming one of the most important brands for Rocket League Esports. Liquipedia introduced me to esports; that’s how I learnt more about RL Esports in general beyond the first RLCS broadcasts I watched from Season 1 in 2016, as my efforts have rewarded me with fantastic opportunities with Team Liquid, Rule One, ESL/DreamHack, BLAST, and Epic/Psyonix themselves. Why am I quitting now? Several reasons. Firstly, I am more than confident that the website will keep going in being the most important tool for the RL with the pool of recent and experienced contributors we have, and I am sure that my path will influence future contributors in helping out towards attempting getting into a long term journey within esports. Secondly, I am on the brink of sorting out my future with various opportunities, those that have already come in which I’ll be announcing soon and those I’m still discussing. It’s all worth it for a reason. Thirdly, time management. I realised over the years that I have spent way too much time on a passion project for free over the experience I already have, and it would feel unfair for myself and the people that have/will contract me under a paid position to use up my limited hours on a voluntary hobby. Thank you to Team Liquid for creating a fantastic resource that helped me begin and build on my resume in esports. It’s not goodbye to Rocket League though, that’s for sure.

@Homie_RL Hopefully it doesn’t and hopefully there’s something that goes on during the break to keep talent growing and becoming stronger. Sometimes it takes players themselves united with each other to challenge themselves and become better together.

@Basincc Losing to Gaimin was fine, they are a good roster with way more LAN experience. I just am not happy with the way they play rocket league. OCE is currently full of exciting talent, that’s why I don’t want it to go to waste.

Really feel like OCE has lost its way since the departure of CJCJ and Kamii. Feels like no one respects veteran talent anymore and a lot of the top teams outside PWR are just relying on peaking individually over playing with any sort of cohesion. When will brains be switched on.

@Homie_RL People will say that yes we lost to APAC so OCE in the mud, but when you actually look at who was on that APAC roster it’s 2/3 former EU players.

@Homie_RL They definitely showed it with vsing Secret. Mind you that was the only game I saw of them this event/season cause retirement from RL keeps me busy. Hopefully they stick it out. Switching it up will be a step back imo.

@Homie_RL Yeah it put pressure on them become the best in an inadequate timeframe. It would have been helpful to have the old guard help welcome to the new guard in, as seen with SAM, NA and EU. But it is what it is. Definitely maybe another season or 2 but the bridge is getting closer

@Basincc Yeah completely agree. Losing Decka, Julz, etc in that period as well was devastating to the development of our young talent. I think we can bounce back but it will take years.

@Homie_RL Names such as Drippay, Kamii, CJCJ, Siki, Express are those I speak of and we saw them all leave within 12-18 months. They were are regular LAN attendees. Compare that to our new faces and it’s a lot of unfamiliar territory we throw teams outside of PWR into.

@Homie_RL When OCE lost a handful of top players all at the same time, it would take a while for the new young prodigies to meet the same standard that the old vets had. We’ve not reached that point yet, but this was probably the first time since then that we’ve showed that there close
