@JEBavido @elizableu Well, I guess we never really defined what a social safety net is, but I would argue that making sure productive workers are ok is not generally as expensive as making sure older retirees are ok.

@BavidoSamuel @elizableu I don't agree that older people would be the highest strain "by far", if we had the safety net we should. But, ya know, I've not calculated the difference in things if we had UBI, so I may need to adjust my thinking...

Honestly just open the border. It’s open anyway. Completely cut the welfare program.

@JEBavido @elizableu But my point is that older people are by far the highest strain on a social safety net. For younger, working taxpayers, it's just a percentage game, and if it works at 100 million, it probably works at 150 million.
