Sumatran Bluespotted Maskray (Neotrygon bobwardi) a.k.a. Bob Ward's Bluespotted Maskray. A new species for me! 📷
For the last couple of days I have been diving on a small island off the northern tip of Sumatra specifically to photograph this pretty little maskray. What a cutie!
According to Borsa (who described many of the new Neotrygon rays) this is likely an Australian Bluespotted Maskray - Neotrygon australiae.
I took this image in Bootless Bay, on the south coast of PNG which (if this ID is correct) represents a range extension for this species.

New Species! The Ariake Stingray (Hemitrygon ariakensis).
Similar to the Red Stingray (Hemitrygon akajei), but differs in having a white margin on its ventral fin fold, a transverse groove on its belly, and no enlarged thorns on its centre-line.
