being confused about a series after the first episode can be really good sometimes (daemons of the shadow realm imo has a great confusing first episode) but ghost concert i was just like. What the fuck is going on (bad)

Don't know how to feel about Ghost Concert: missing Songs tbqh. Really want to like it cuz it's from the Symphogear creator, but man the pacing in the first episode was so schizophrenic it hurt. I'll give it a couple more episodes but I'm not feeling optimistic about this one.

@CDRXongao -but yes, I agree it's maybe too early to judge. But they kind of sabotaged themselves by nailing Symphogear the first time, so now every new consecutive project that has and will come after it looks half-baked in comparison.

@CDRXongao Maybe not effective in drawing in 100% of viewers, but it still was better paced and structured than GC ep 1. It also had more energy and a far better cliffhanger, Ghost Concert is very pretty, but the tone feels quite stale.

Ghost Concert Episode 1 premiere Initial thoughts: After watching the first episode my initial concerns have not been allayed at all. They've condensed a myriad of concepts in to one package and the show suffers for it by having no apparent identity the viewer can connect to and no ''hook'' either to get you invested. It wants to be Fate, it wants to be a commentary on AI, it wants to be a spirit-hunting anime, it wants to be a dystopian story about oppression of artistic expression... -and none of those elements click cohesively. I was also rather let down by the music aspect, instead of diegetic sequences we got pretty standard insert song music video that felt completely disconnected from the current narrative. Especially coming from the minds of Symphogear I found this approach to be simply boring. As for the production, it was the strongest part of the episode. Studio Engi continues their recent winning streak and redemption arc. Hopefully it holds up and wasn't just first episode ''budget''. I will watching for now, but this one has a long road of winning me over. 6.5/10
