@Kakerot1000 @smilekyth @playriftbound i’m not repeating what you said i’m saying what i said from the start :) we run out just as fast because they do 2x locals a week so regardless of top cut or not we run out. and it’s a participation pack so i’ll still complain if i don’t get one because it’s for… participation.

@BrasWdps @smilekyth @playriftbound if you give it to only the top cut then you can't possibly be running out "just as fast" unless your entire locals is top cut in which case you have nothing to complain about. And yes you're now repeating what I said, print more, thus not the store's fault

@BrasWdps @smilekyth @playriftbound Then after a week or two you have 0 per nexus night. Then you’d be even more pissed because now after 2 weeks they have none for the month or so for the next set. Objectively it is better to give to top cut for 2 months vs giving to all for 2 weeks the nothing for 1.5 month

@BrasWdps @GeorgeG_TCG Yeah things getting banned will piss people off but Im saying pre banning something for the states when you already know its a problem is healtgier and a better alternative than letting people buy into a deck ypu already know should go.

A lot of people are asking my thoughts on the Riftbound bans: First putting the cards chosen aside — the statement by Dave Guskin was stellar. A condemnation of miracle gameplay is our first clear indication of intended power level since this all began. In contrast to the state of the game article Dave was direct and owned the situation tactfully. This is what I was a looking for — itself more important than adding or removing any single extra card. Respect to the man and the team. As for the cons, I would’ve made sure to hit the cards that might restart this discussion in a month. If it’s S+ Irelia or Aurora Dragon world we’re going to be right back here. Much like the miracle engine every mid orange deck already is viewed through the lens of how it supports Aurora and I expect we’ll see that continue. There’s some stuff to be said about how the metal card grind increases the number of non interactive decks in tournaments — but that’s for another day. For me, I’ll be skipping this next round of regionals. The bans are likely enough for the game, but not enough for my level of Set 2 burnout. Being 2 months ahead of the high-level community discourse on this subject has been unfun and unpleasant. I’ll compete in the future if the meta looks healthy and fun! If Riot wants input on future issues I’m willing to relinquish all three Nationals invites. Good luck in Lille everyone!

@Kakerot1000 @RockyBrn @playriftbound yep that’s what i figured cause that’s how every other game and product at any store in existence is. idk where he got 100 from.

@BrasWdps @RockyBrn @playriftbound It isn’t a flat number. Each store gets their own amount decided by riot based on the store’s average attendance. If they get more reoccurring customers then riot gives them more nexus night packs and set boxes. And however many those stores get, they have to last until next set.

@Kakerot1000 @smilekyth @playriftbound no i will blame both because it’s a participation pack, they hold it cause there are $20+ cards in them so people don’t show up unless they have them. feel free to read the thread and see me tell them to print more. i’ll blame both in the mean time.

@BrasWdps @smilekyth @playriftbound If they didn’t hold it then they would have no nexus night packs after only a few of them. They have to last until the next restock. Don’t blame the store, blame the underproduction

@smilekyth @SweetestRads @playriftbound yeah as long as they are doing credit or packs makes sense. as long as they have singles. cause a lot of stores that only do store credit have nothing good to buy with it cause packs will all be sold out so you’re eternally holding credit to use for entry and next set.

@smilekyth @playriftbound correct, that is why my LGS did it too. does that make it right or should justify holding something promised to the player for paying entry? in my opinion no. so that’s why i made the tweet. UVS can happily print more and send more to LGS and I’ll take 2 for entry and winning.

@BrasWdps @playriftbound this is because they weren't given enough packs in general. All the LGS around me that didn't limit now have zero to give out at the event entirely vs the ones who are limiting to top 4 or top 8.

@BrasWdps @GeorgeG_TCG Well im confused you can restate if you care but your initial comment was saying they were mad that it was banned and moria wasnt. That isnt really the same thing. They have also done it multiples of times over their games. I think its very healthy regardless.

@BrasWdps @GeorgeG_TCG A card getting pre banned and a card not getting banned definitely isnt the same thing. They do this same thing with digi, union, and dragonball as well. If we already know a card is a bad idea there is no reason for america to also have to bitch about it lol.

@HommyAG Dave said in his post today it was basically poor design. Everyone forgetting banned cards can get unbanned eventually when they aren’t format warping. literally just happened in One Piece. peace and calm.

Making bans in under 6 months of game release might be an indicator of poor design I've said it before and I'll say it again: there needs to be a study done on how fortunate Riot Games is that LoL was successful, especially given how abysmally they handle everything they touch

@_whenisleep @GeorgeG_TCG there was plenty of dooming and glooming when RP Law got banned. I remember when it got banned and Moria didn’t there were people saying they were done and selling their whole collection. which is the same reaction as today for some riftbound players.

@GeorgeG_TCG Bandai pre bans cards when they were proven to be a problem in JP. Its definitely fine to do and they dont seem to ever get real push back.
