The demand for doctors, nurses, and healthcare professionals continues to rise. Today, the University of South Carolina broke ground on its new medical school, which will help ensure South Carolinians continue to receive the care they need well into the future.

Last Friday, USC announced plans to build the first standalone neurological hospital in the Southeast right here in Columbia. This cutting-edge facility will focus solely on brain and nervous system care, addressing a critical health gap for South Carolinians.

The hospital is planned next to the university’s soon-to-be-constructed School of Medicine building on USC’s Health Sciences Campus inside the BullStreet District of Columbia. It would be an extension of the university’s network of cutting-edge brain health care and research.
