Really? Then why are the loudest voices against developing it so often from the provinces that benefit from Alberta’s wealth but refuse to support Alberta’s resources?
Ottawa restricts it. Quebec vilifies it. B.C. blocks it. Yet somehow Alberta is still expected to keep paying the bills.
The truth is simple: it is Alberta’s oil. Since the Natural Resources Transfer Agreement of 1930, Alberta has owned its natural resources.
In a functioning country, Canada would embrace Alberta’s energy sector, build the infrastructure, develop the resources, and ensure affordable energy for Canadians.
Instead, Albertans face endless regulation, punishing taxes, blocked pipelines, and billions transferred out of the province to benefit others, including those who openly oppose the industry that funds them.
This is why more Albertans are waking up.
Canada doesn’t deserve Alberta.
Alberta would be better off on its own.

The Permian Basin, which stretches across West Texas and southeastern New Mexico, pumps out 6.6 million barrels a day on its own, more than every OPEC country except Saudi Arabia. Zoom out, and the U.S. is the single largest oil producer on the planet at 13.6 million barrels a day, out-producing both Russia (9.1M) and Saudi Arabia (9.3M). On natural gas, it isn't close: America produced a record 43.2 trillion cubic feet in 2025, roughly a quarter of the world's supply and more than Russia and Iran combined. The U.S. sits on world-class reserves and out-produces every petrostate.

People keep saying:
“A referendum doesn’t mean Alberta gets to leave.”
That sounds smart… but it misses the actual legal reality.
A successful referendum isn’t just a suggestion.
It establishes the will of the people.
In Canada, that triggers a constitutional obligation for good faith negotiations.
And good faith doesn’t mean:
“We heard you… and we say no.”
It means:
You must negotiate seriously.
You cannot ignore the result.
You cannot stall forever.
The conversation shifts from:
“Are you allowed to leave?”
to
“How do we make it happen?”
That’s the key point people are missing.
Independence isn’t handed over instantly.
But a clear vote forces the process forward.
It forces the issue onto the table in a way that cannot be dismissed.
That’s power.
And if Albertans stand united behind that vote,
it becomes politically, legally, and practically impossible to ignore.

It’s good news that the Strait of Hormuz has now reopened.
This must be a long lasting and workable solution, without tolls or restrictions on routes.
Today we announced our joint plan with France and other international partners to protect freedom of navigation.
We need to see a return to peace and stability, and a permanent ceasefire.
