Once again, if both the demand and the supply for something is very inelastic in the short term and you suddenly cut ~15% of supplies, the price will go to insane levels in relatively short order.
This will continue until either Hormuz is reopened no matter how exactly or it reaches such a level that it triggers a recession that will "solve" the problem by destroying enough demand.
There is nothing mysterious or unexpected about it and the only reason anyone is surprised by this is because people have memed themselves into believing that basic economics was a panican conspiracy.

I think many people who are conservative in the US now regret voting for Trump. I am in agreement and his only saving light is amusing tweets.
I have zero support for Donald Trump. It's completely unacceptable to throw your economic policy out the window for foreign policy after he declared himself numerous times as a anti war president. Not only domestically but this has disrupted the entire global economy.
His legacy as far as I am concerned is ruined. I will be first to admit where I am wrong and change my stance accordingly.

6 vessels have moved through the Straight of Hormuz in the span of a day according to this report
just for reference pre-war marine vessel traffic was roughly 100+ a day
coming up on week 6 of closure. this is just absolutely tragic for the global economy

More vessels are moving through the Strait of Hormuz today in what looks like the strongest traffic since the war began. That may have been the clearest sign yet this U.S.-Iran conflict was closer to the end than the beginning.
