The degree to which you grow is directly tied to how much truth you can accept about yourself without running from it.

Sometimes when a player asks me to train on an off day, I give them an uncomfortable time to see if they only want it when it is easy. There is a direct correlation to the ones that say yes and the ones that say never mind. Remember if it stinks for them, it stinks for me also but I don’t want easy and they shouldn’t either.

If you're an older athlete that works around younger athletes, share your journey with them. Its important the ones coming after you know what it takes. Younger athletes, dont be in awe of the talent, be in awe of what they're willing to do to harness said talent.

Swing Coach vs Hitting Coach: How does the job change in game? It’s a lot like a Caddie. Ted Scott talking about his job as a caddie: “You’re always trying to help your guy as a caddie to get in that frame of mind to potentially hit the best shot of his life,” Scott went on to explain. “It’s golf, you’re going to hit bad shots, but you don’t want to hit a bad shot without giving yourself the chance to hit a good one.”

Continue to hear a lot of travel ball hate lately. It’s not a flex to hate travel ball, especially when the ones doing the talking are actively benefiting from it. Many of the loudest voices have made hundreds of thousands of dollars, directly or indirectly, from the same system they now criticize. If you’re in player development, think about the athletes you work with every day. Travel ball is their world. Their experience. Their path. What message are you sending when you constantly tear it down? Maybe they hate how they themselves, exploited travel ball? The real flex isn’t complaining about the system. The real flex is taking responsibility for it. Do your part to raise the standard.
Fix what you can.
Create a better experience for the athletes who are living in it every day. That’s how you change it.

Played with Ryo when I spent time in the NWAC at Olympic College. I can tell you it doesn’t matter what technique he uses, he WILL be safe. Dude is unreal fast 😭 and has a cannon 😂

Japan will bring base stealing into the future… is now. @ryo2workout learned this in 10-15 minutes. Because he is a WeckMethod Coach. Faster is FASTER… and safe at second base. @pntrack technique makes all the difference. Every Step Stronger

Watching an opposing coach hit fungos during pregame tells me a lot… I’ll leave it at that. Because if you know… you know

It’s one thing to see your kids succeed. But to be there with them through the long tough nights, the struggles, the bad weekends, long mental talks, everything! Makes it hit a little different when things finally go their way again. I know for a fact coaches can relate!

If your athlete can’t speak for themselves… they’re not ready for the next level. Independence and self- advocacy are two important things recruitable athletes exhibit. College coaches recruit independent athletes — not parents. Here’s the shift 👇 • THEY send the emails • THEY ask the questions • THEY talk to coaches • THEY follow up • THEY manage their schedule Let them be uncomfortable. Let them mess up. That’s how confidence is built. The more you do for them now… the less prepared they’ll be when you’re not there. And in college — you’re not there. 🤷‍♀️
