It was amazing. The stuff we take for granted in cinema today was brand new at the time. There are so many obvious and subtle call backs that I still find news ones. For example, in the original movie, when the Terminator knocks out the cop and steals his squad car. Blink and you’ll miss it, but the guy in T2 that took the photos during the first fight in the mall is the same guy (co-writer William Wisher) and according to Cameron is the same character, hence the super shocked look on his face.
