A bunch of free federal money in the middle to end with $1B for Chicago and Cook County out of Bidens American Rescue Plan Act 2021, and ending the same year with the Infrastructure Investment and Job Act. Yeah, OK. Our "allies" have for the most part been getting a free ride on the US trade deals which were one sided. NATO spending levels were significantly below committed levels. Trump is right. You might not like his delivery style, but for many countries, the time of having access to the American consumer while putting import or tariff taxes on American exporters is over. NATO is now a bad joke. They expected us to support Ukraine, which is not a NATO member to the tune of almost US$200 billion. Yet, they failed to acknowledge our biggest military threat, which is the GIUK Gap. Sure, Trump can be clumsy and unorthodox, but we were not getting anywhere diplomatically. The US needs to focus on the Monroe Doctrine, and control the Western Hemisphere (clean up Venezuela, Cuba, Haiti etc.) and let the EU spend on their own defense. In terms of isolation, well I don’t think that other countries can afford to do that to us. We are dominating new tech, and are in a race with China on AI who will not share with others. We are winning the race to space which will open space mining as the next massive industry. We are about to enter the second Industrial Revolution. Trump knows this, hence America first.
