@keenan17 It's a woful dose alright but the vaccine has made a big difference here. I don't think there's any getting rid of it once it gets in

@CallananDarragh I’d rather not to have it all tbh Darragh. Have it from the start here and is effecting them worse now. Cows vaccinated according to calving dates. Not saying vaccine is silver lining but I’ve had it bad the past 3 years. Not much changing left to do imo.

@johnkellyjkcs @Kildareman2 @rtenews It isn't a matter of diversification. It's a matter of climate, land type and labour availability. We have a mild wet climate that can grow grass and cheap labour is non existent. Dairy and beef do well here.

@Kildareman2 @rtenews I dont have the choice if its not available.. beef and dairy seem to win out with the Irish farmers.. they dont want to diversify ..

@AidanAidanmc @AlanBurton12 The middle is a bit of a reach to try and push one up while trying to get them to suck. Very manageable in other stalls. It's more awkward than overly heavy 2 guys would lift it. They are a fantastic tool to get calves going

Anyone on here with one of these?? If so, what are the pro’s and cons?? Nothing worse than trying to put a bunch of young on a feeder for the first time and then big awkward brute just knocks them all off🤯🤯🤯 Might contraption help that situation??

@AlanBurton12 @AidanAidanmc One person good enough just don't put a contrary one right in the middle. Hold the bucket for 20 seconds and when theyre sucking put it in holder. Have 2 of them here and would be lost without them. Only 2 cons is loads of buckets to wash and they are bulky. Way more pros

@Daithi_fenno Descale acid is the only one that works here. I put it on with a knapsack sprayer and wash off after a few minutes. It could need a number of applications

@CiaranOShea11 I tried leaving clover fields till last on each round if I came short then it wouldn't bother me but it was very noticeable. Only seeing nice clover in them now

Middle of June and my heavy clover dense fields have grown fuck all grass this year. The aged sward paddocks have grazed alot more with one small helping of fertiliser

@CiaranOShea11 I was told treat it the same as non clover until 1st of June then go half rate for the rest of the year. Fertiliser restrictions gone so tight every small bit should help

@CallananDarragh Relatively new to it too (only the last 5-6 years) but its so far behind previous years for the same time of year its rediculous. Over half the grazing season gone is a bit too long to wait for it

@JerryMoloney1 One thing that really irritates me is teagascs reasoning of using a big team of bulls to reduce risk from EBI drop off of genomic sires. One bad cow in a poor milk price year is one too many. In saying that its one too many in a good milk price year too 😂

@JerryMoloney1 Haven't used him but that EBI drop wouldn't turn me off. Dam looks like a serious cow and sire is good too. He has come from a "take a guess" fertility figure back to a one that's still respectable. In saying all that making all breeding decisions totally off EBI is a poor gamble

@NatureNymph I have to say I don't agree Oonagh. Both are important in my view. As we try and do what we can to lower our impact others aren't. So we are going to have weather changes here no matter what we do.

Folk on radio saying why didn’t we plan for adaptation of systems for extreme weather events so ppl aren’t impacted w/ loss of power/water. The country only started to act on the climate crisis a few short yrs ago & still not taking it as seriously as needed. Headwrecking

Has the @greenparty_ie issued a formal apology to every Irish person who converted to an electric car, built their electricity-reliant house with no chimney on their advice & now find themselves cut off, isolated unable to heat their home or shower while sitting in darkness?

@cianginty Some only need half an excuse to increase charges and bin companies have taken their opportunity. All I'm saying is the GP didn't take into account any repercussions of their actions. If they did they would have had done something to protect people while making their changes
