Just got scammed while on my cruise. Turned off airplane mode for a sec. Saw I had gotten a voicemail from a police officer and didn’t know what the heck was going on. Called him back and he said I missed jury duty on certain dates and that I’m gonna be booked and be a felon on top of extra jargon i didn’t understand. He knew my name, home address, and that I didn’t have a criminal background. That was terrifying. He asked for money…that is what really didn’t feel right. He said I could speak to his Sergeant. I said, OK, let me get his number. Then he continued to say, “no, he’ll call you.” What kind of idiot do you take me for? He hung up when I pressed that he was a scammer. How is it scammers are becoming worse every single day? Can I not enjoy my cruise without a single ounce of stress?!? Anyone else deal with something like this? I’m terrified he’ll be using my voice to get information about me. Only thing I can do now is report it, but my internet doesn’t work since I’m on a boat.
