Master Sgt. Gary Gordon and Sgt. 1st Class Randy Shughart were elite Delta Force snipers deployed during the 1993 Battle of Mogadishu, Somalia. When a Black Hawk helicopter (call sign Super Six Four) was shot down deep in hostile territory, the two men repeatedly requested permission to be inserted at the crash site to protect the downed crew.
