In 2004, at the age of 40, Merrian Carver set off on a cruise to Alaska but vanished just two days into her voyage. One staff member allegedly reported Merrian missing multiple times, but no action was taken. Her disappearance wasn't reported, and her belongings were boxed up and stored at the end of the cruise. When Merrian didn't return, her father, Kendall Carver, reported her missing. Kendall Carver encountered obstacles whenever he sought answers about his daughter's disappearance. This prompted him to file a lawsuit against the cruise line in 2005. The cruise line released an official statement to the media, claiming that Merrian had “severe emotional problems, had attempted suicide before, and appears to have committed suicide on our ship.” Carver succeeded in his lawsuit, but it did not yield any definitive answers about his daughter's fate. Sadly, he passed away in December 2019 without ever discovering what happened to Merrian.
