Fwiw: I've been saying for months, if Crimson Desert tries to go for a strong narrative and sucks, I hope everything else around it is awesome. Breath of the Wild didn't do anything story-wise for me but everything around fuckin rocked and it's one of my faves of all time. That being said, almost every NPC in zelda games are likeable/silly/weird/interesting so that at least made character interactions fun IMO.

Absolutely hilarious the hypocrisy when it comes to review scores and metacritic when it's a game you're ready to shit on vs a game you've been anticipating.
Right now the narrative surrounding Crimson Desert is "game journalists are bad" "metacritic doesn't matter"

Crimson desert getting hate for a bad a story is kinda funny, because nioh 3 story is hilariously bad but the gameplay is phenomenal
