🚨 Tomorrow, between 10:00 a.m. and 12:30 p.m., local emergency officials across Texas will take part in a statewide public warning system exercise led by the Texas Division of Emergency Management (TDEM). 🚨
These emergency alerts help keep our communities safe during real disasters, and regular drills like this make sure our systems work when it matters most.
Each community will manage its own alerts, so if you get a message that morning, don’t worry, it’s part of the test! #txlege @TDEM

It’s been a minute… but we’re back in committee!
The Senate Business & Commerce Committee is diving into an important issue this morning: how we strengthen our electric grid and secure the supply chains that keep Texas running. As our state grows, so does the demand for reliable, affordable energy.
We’re taking a closer look at what’s working, where the challenges are, and how we can better prepare for the future
Want to follow along? Watch the hearing live here: senate.texas.gov/av-live.php #txlege

Last Friday, Lieutenant Governor Dan Patrick released the Texas Senate’s interim charges for the 89th Legislative Interim, and I’m grateful that several of my recommended priorities were included, particularly around water planning, economic accountability, infrastructure, and public safety.
These charges set the foundation for the next session. This is where we do the work to better understand the challenges we’re facing and develop practical, responsible solutions for our communities!

Yesterday, our office wrapped up our Electronic Recycling Event, and it was great to see so many community members stop by to safely dispose of old, unwanted devices.
Events like this are a simple but meaningful way to care for our community while keeping harmful waste out of our landfills.
Thank you to our partners, Bravo Auto Group, The City of El Paso, and The Junk Luggers, for helping us make this possible! #txlege @ElPasoTXGov

I’m excited to share that the Humane Society of El Paso has been awarded a $300,000 grant through the Texas Spay and Neuter Pilot Program to expand access to critical services for pets and families in our community.
The Humane Society is already doing the hard work every day, and this funding will help them reach more families and prevent problems before they start. It means fewer stray animals, less strain on shelters, and more access to affordable care.
I was proud to help secure $13 million for this program during the 89th legislature so communities like El Paso can access these important resources. Thank you to the Humane Society of El Paso for everything you do for our community. #txlege @humanesocietyep

Great spending time with doctoral students at the University of Texas at El Paso in Dr. Laura Rodriguez’s Advanced Health Policy and Bioethics course.
We had a conversation about how policy decisions made at the Capitol directly impact patients, providers, and communities, especially in the wake of this past legislative session.
These students are already leaders in healthcare ,it’s clear they’re ready to continue stepping up, advocating, and making a difference in our community. #txlege @UTEP

Public education plays a big role in our community, and yesterday’s conversation proved just how much it matters.
Grateful to join the Raise Your Hand Texas Town Hall with Canutillo ISD and hear directly from students, parents, and educators about the future of our schools.
We talked about the importance of supporting our teachers, strengthening school funding, and making sure every student has the opportunity to succeed.
Thank you to everyone who took the time to participate. Looking forward to the work ahead! #txlege @RYHTexas

Rest in peace, Chuck Norris.
He was a true Texas legend and a familiar face for so many of us who grew up watching Walker, Texas Ranger. His legacy will always be part of Texas.
Keeping his family in my thoughts and prayers.

An El Paso team that changed the game forever!
60 years later, the 1966 Texas Western NCAA Championship still stands as one of the most powerful moments in sports history. For the first time in tournament history, the team started five Black players.
Their win wasn’t just about a title, it broke barriers, opened doors, and continues to inspire our community here in El Paso and beyond. #txlege
