Where is the Love? According to the Bhagavad Gita, real religion or spirituality is “joyfully performed”, gives “direct perception of the true self”, and leads to “boundless transcendental happiness.” It is the eternal nature of the soul, not an artificially imposed set of rituals and rules belonging to any specific designation. As parts of the Supreme Spirit, God, we are spiritual beings forever united with him, simply in a state of forgetfulness. Genuine spiritual practice gradually awakens us to who we really are, pure souls without material labels, beyond the madness and suffering of this temporary world. This practice cannot be enforced. It must be voluntarily embraced. As the saying goes, those convinced against their will are of the same opinion still. There must be true conviction, based on knowledge and understanding. We see, then, that the great saints and teachers adopt this approach, delivering divine messages with love and compassion, showing us that we have an eternal home and a loving Father who longs for our return. Such teachers are beacons of God’s love, naturally drawing us to follow them. If you must resort to violence and killing to force people to follow your path, something is wrong. If your message lacks the inherent power to transform your heart, it is useless. The true teachings of God endure for thousands of years because they have that power. Those who are wise will accept them without the need for brutal enforcement. And if someone chooses not to, they have that freedom, given by God himself. No one can take it away. You always have the power of choice, no matter what happens. Let us pray that those suffering at the hands of misguided religious fanatics will find succour in the Lord’s loving guidance, which is always there for those desiring it. ❤️🙏
