2️⃣ Higher levels of cumulative family stress was related to DNA methylation primarily in stress- and immune-related genes (e.g., FKBP5, SLC6A3, TNF). 3️⃣ Negative mother-child relationship quality partially explained the DNA methylation association with cumulative family stress.

Here is what we found: 1️⃣ Comparing across two accessible human tissues-cheek swab 👄 and blood 🩸 , we found that cumulative family stress in middle childhood was reflected only in blood DNA methylation but not in cheek swab.

Very proud of this new paper describing a novel human immune defect caused by ASXL1 deficiency. We really had to open the genomics tool box to solve this one, including neat tricks like calculating the epigenetic age.
