Instead of shaming artists at Eurovision who are pro-Palestinian and actually are speaking up (which logistically would’ve been very difficult to do, especially under the BBC) why is the attention not being focused on @EBU_HQ, or contestants and broadcasters who are silent? Olly’s decision to participate in Eurovision despite calls for a boycott stands with his well-known beliefs in using his platform to advocate for peace. Collaborating with other contestants who want to leverage their presence to create a dialogue and stand in solidarity on a global stage, rather than disengage, shouldn’t be met with backlash. Many other participants haven’t spoken up at all - all while Olly continues to raise funds for Gaza. People were mad when he didn’t speak and people are now mad that he has spoken. Contractually, one single person cannot simply just ‘pull out’ of the Eurovision Song Contest without jeopardising their entire career and income. The artists who spoke today have spoken to say “stepping back now would mean one less pro-Palestinian voice at the contest” so surely that deserves more respect than nothing at all? If our (collective) most impactful move is to withdraw, then that lies with the BBC - not Olly. These artists have had no choice but to be left stuck in the middle of this, because the EBU are happy to sit back and let them be harassed for something they’ve had no input in. @EBU_HQ need to listen to the people speaking up, and the pressure needs to be put on them

@EurovisionTom @euroviNOR Thing is that it wasn't despised by the community before the live shows, and all of a sudden when Mileo doesn't qualify suddenly its the main target of everyone's abuse. The eourivision community (particularly on twitter) is incredibly reactionary, and in my view its not healthy.
