FROM ZEUS regarding minting of $ION on BSC. Read carefully 👇🏽 👉 The fact that the ION BSC bridge contract has mint functionality does not mean we can mint unlimited tokens. That is how bridged assets work. In the case of the ION bridge between Ice Open Network and BSC, tokens are not minted arbitrarily by us. The bridge works through a lock-and-mint / burn-and-unlock model. When a user bridges ION from Ice Open Network to BSC, the original ION is first locked on the Ice Open Network side inside the bridge flow. Then, the corresponding amount of bridged ION is minted on BSC. When a user bridges ION back from BSC to Ice Open Network, the bridged ION on BSC is burned, and the original ION is unlocked on Ice Open Network. So yes, the BSC contract includes mint functionality, but that exists because a bridge token needs to be minted when assets are locked on the source chain. It does not mean the team can simply mint any amount it wants. This is also visible in the verified contract code on BscScan, where minting is not a simple owner-controlled action, but part of the bridge logic involving oracle validation and functions such as voteForMinting: #code" target="_blank" rel="nofollow noopener">bscscan.com/token/0xE1ab61… The total supply remains the same at 21B ION. Bridging does not create extra supply out of nowhere, it only mirrors already locked tokens across chains.
