@DefenseNigeria In the past six months, multiple attacks have resulted in dozens to hundreds of deaths and hundreds of people being kidnapped (including women and children). Farmers in Zamfara need more armed support; relying solely on themselves may still face severe challenges.

Very significant development, first official interjihadist clash in this region of Nigeria, however until proven otherwise this could also be Sadiku's JAS faction, and not IS-Sahel, this will be verified.

The new leader of JNIM deployed in the northern region has been highly active since this year, and his actions can be seen as intended to establish "military achievements". JNIM and IS have extended the conflict from the tri-border area to Nigeria, further stretching the entire front line.

JNIM affiliated channels have reported a clash with IS in Kebbi over the weekend, likely the first recorded in Nigeria. One IS fighter was killed, another captured, and millions of Naira seized. The attack reportedly came from JNIM fighters based along the Benin border.

🇲🇱#Mali:This is a fuel convoy traveling from Côte d'Ivoire to Bamako. The persistent power outages in Bamako indicate that there is still a supply shortfall of fuel. In theory, if there were sufficient drones on hand, safety risks could be fully eliminated through aerial reconnaissance in advance. However, given the extensive length of RN7 highway, full coverage monitoring is not currently possible. x.com/18Echo0321/sta…

🇲🇱#mali: A suspected attack on a gold mine occurred in the Narena area last Thursday, during which the attackers set fire to some equipment, abducted foreign nationals, and subsequently demanded ransom. Similar attacks took place in the same area on May 12 and June 12 last year. At present, no claim of responsibility has been received, and judging by the modus operandi, the incident is suspected to have been perpetrated by JNIM.

This is a typical conflict arising from cultural differences. The cultural event was meant to unite the diaspora, not a political coronation or a claim of sovereignty. The escalation of tensions is truly regrettable. It once again highlights the risks of cultural misinterpretation and xenophobia that diaspora communities face abroad.

Since the start of 2026, Azawad has been using drones with increasing frequency. However, their technical performance has been lacking—for example, in terms of hit rate and damage inflicted—indirectly proving that local modification is still immature.

@DanKatsina50 @DefenseNigeria The M80 Zolja is a single-use portable anti-armor rocket launcher with an effective combat range of approximately 220 meters. In this context, the weapon is far more likely to be employed against Nigerian Army MRAP (Mine-Resistant Ambush-Protected) vehicles.

Boko Haram (JAS faction) militants seen wielding Serbian made M80 Zolja anti-tank weapons, most likely smuggled in through Sudan in a new video. Yet another example of the consequences of Nigeria’s porous borders. Though the fighters in the video appear to be threatening rival ISWAP militants as their infighting continues, these anti-tank weapons could just as easily be turned against Nigerian army armoured vehicles.

x.com/DefenseNigeria… On March 4, 2026, Jama’at Nusrat al-Islam wal-Muslimin (JNIM), the Sahel branch of al-Qaeda, launched a raid on a military barracks in the village of Kofouno in the Alibori region of northern Benin, killing 15 soldiers and wounding 5 others. JNIM has claimed responsibility and released a video showing militants burning the camp, looting supplies, and seizing equipment including U.S.-made M113 armored personnel carriers. The incident highlights that the terrorist threat in the Sahel is accelerating its penetration into coastal countries of the Gulf of Guinea, with the security situation along northern Benin’s border continuing to deteriorate.
