County Durham Elects

Stockton North will remain a Labour seat with an increased majority with the nee constituency boundaries. The election data is from the LE 2019 which was the most recent ward level data I could find, potentially explaining UKIPs high level of support.

Easington is renamed Seaham and Peterlee with the new boundaries. Labour holds on with a large majority and the NEP beats the Lib Dems into being the third largest party.

North West Durham will remain Conservative but with a majority of only about 200 votes based on 2021 election data and new boundaries. The Lib Dems are up with their divisions in Consett and Esh. It will be interesting to see how their voters sway in 2024.

North Durham stays with Labour in the boundary redistribution. It’s likely to remain a safe seat going forward unless more major political shifts occur in the next GE.

Sedgefield is added to Newton Aycliffe to make a new constituency in the boundary review. If comparing with Sedgefield this would be a Labour gain based on local election data.

Darlington would remain Conservative with the new boundaries, please note that the local election data is from 2019 prior to the general election. These posts are just to give a general idea of what the results could look like using the most recent data I can find.

City of Durham sees some interesting changes as some of the constituency crosses into Sunderland City Council. The Lib Dems usually over-perform in local elections putting them into second place but it could remain a North East target for them. Labour manages to hold on.

As promised here are the impacts of the proposed boundaries based off of local election results. The Conservatives hold and the Greens get a big boost from their current Council ward of Brandon being added to Bishop Auckland.

Hartlepool Borough Council 2021 Local Election Results: 🔵 CON: 13 (+9) 🔴 LAB: 11 (+3) 🔘 IND: 10 (+4) 🔘 Hartlepool Ind: 2 (-4) 3 vacant and boundary changes prior to election.

Hartlepool Result: Result based off local elections 2021. Changes with the 2021 by-election. As polling was done on the same day this goes to show how local election data isn’t always the best way to predict Westminster election vote shares. Con HOLD

The same goes for Stockton North and South and Stockton Borough Council

The constituency results for Darlington and Sedgefield will not be published as Darlington Borough Council had no elections in 2021 and therefore these constituencies either had no elections or only partial elections this year.
