This is high level coaching that is turning skills into “unconscious competence”
Everyone runs similar individual drills, but it’s the HOW that separates us in everything we do.
Never met Blake, know nothing about him, but this short clip tells me a lot about what kind of coach he is:
- No props or cones – REACT VISUALLY. That’s how the game is actually played.
- Peripheral vision cues are critical. You have to see and feel the whole field. I rarely see coaches emphasize, talk about, or drill this.
- Silent cues only – no verbal commands like “break” or “flip.” Forces eyes and feet to sync naturally.
- Eyes up at all times – hold up numbers during weaves to build awareness without looking down.
- Build true spatial/field awareness: FEEL your position through depth perception, not by staring at lines.
This is the type of detail that matters—not for the sake of being arbitrary or adding unnecessary steps or thinking, but details that enhance your instinct and feel for the game.
Don’t waste time and energy reinforcing things that don’t matter!

@GregoDaGr8 unfortunately there a lot of schools out there that lack the commitment to winning and in the end, their lack of passion, becomes your burden to bare and they make it look like it was all your fault.....yes-research......buyer beware!

If your coach holds you accountable, you are VERY fortunate. A lot of coaches accept their players doing whatever they want, whenever they want with no consequences. Discipline/responsibility/accountability are life prep! If your coach cares that much, you’re lucky so respect it!
