KEY!!! **** Lifting helps wake-up and ignite your nervous system to be ready to compete! You don’t have to go ballistic (no maxing out in-season), but you should get your body ready to perform at an elite level!!!! … while maintaining strength that you will critically need throughout the entire season to be at your best.
Of course continue to execute flexibility routines, eat healthy, hydrate, and put your phones away at night and sleep. 8 plus hours if possible.

If you’re a basketball athlete, one of the biggest weapons you have:
LIFTING HEAVY IN-SEASON
✅ It reduces the incidence of injury
✅ It helps aid early acceleration
✅ It builds total body strength
How we do it:
▫️Use the barbell for our main lifts
▫️Lift above 80% of 1 RM
▫️Train 3-4x/week
▫️Use multi-joint lifts
With the season so long you have to be lift for improved performance & health

The biggest point of emphasis:
Maintenance in-season is a myth!
Teams that take a maintenance mentality do the equivalent of taking the foot off the gas without actually having any gas in the tank.
If you want to be at your best in speed, power, and strength attributes as the season goes on and not bleed out towards the end, actually train HARD to keep those outputs!
Bonus: the players love it when they understand and see how their training is helping them get better and it creates an even more positive feedback loop👀

This is the time of year high school football players waste money and time working with specialty trainers, elite 7v7 teams, etc., all chasing the promise of collegiate level exposure.
Suggestion: Save your time and money.
Make a daily commitment to...
*Your grades
*Your strength development
*Your speed and quickness development
*Your skills and fundamentals
*WITH your Teammates, at school, at your facilities.
Spend time with your teammates in the weight-room, on the field and doing good things together on the weekends.
This will bring you the success you are looking for AND will build team chemistry and a bond that will take you to new heights next season.
Invest where you are at. Stay rooted. Build the foundation for 2025 now!

Leadership is hard.
It takes courage, character, and a willingness to serve others.
Here are the 6 Skills All Great Leaders Master:
1. Accountability - Leaders set the standard and embody the standard. Accountability means taking ownership. Success doesn't happen without accountability. Creating accountability empowers you to ensure people take ownership of their actions. It creates good conflict because it promotes responsibility and drives performance for success.
2. Connection - It starts with caring and connecting. To be an effective leader, you need to build relationships with people so you can establish trust and foster collaboration. People won't follow or listen until they know you and what you stand for.
3. Problem-Solving - Effective leadership means effective communication. Communication means what you say, how you say it, and when you say it. Your ability to pair strong relationships with effective communication drives change. It means articulating a clear vision, inspiring, and motivating others. Everyone might not like what you say, but communication becomes the bridge between confusion and clarity.
4. Adaptability - Leadership is about how you drive and deal with change within a team. People don't like change, but you have to navigate it with resilience and adaptability. It means communication and action. How you communicate and behave will either inspire change or cause people to resist. It will signal how you help your team adapt and grow.
5. Development - Great leaders develop more leaders. They focus on nurturing talent, empowering others, and creating a culture of continuous learning. It means believing in people and their potential. You have to get people to believe in what their potential can be for them and sometimes that doesn't align with where they are today.
6. Character - Character is the foundation of leadership. It’s about integrity, honesty, and doing the right thing even when it’s difficult. Leaders with strong character earn the respect of their teams because they consistently act in alignment with their values. Character isn’t just about making the right decisions—it’s about being the kind of leader who inspires others to do the same.
Takeaway: Leadership requires the courage to make tough decisions, the humility to listen, and the resilience to stand firm in your values - because true leadership isn’t about being liked, it’s about doing what’s right.
