Deep diving into how this year’s WBB Sweet 16 teams are built.
Some fun early results:
- Every single team in the Sweet 16 wins the turnover margin, FG% margin, OREB margin
- 11 of 16 win the 3ptm margin
- 13 of 16 win the FTA margin

Going to dive in and scout each team in the Sweet 16. I coached against 7 of the 16 this year.
My in person eye test ranking of those 7:
1. UConn
2. Duke
3. Lville
4. Oklahoma
5. ND
6. UNC
7. UVA

Oklahoma, LSU, Mich the fastest.
Minnesota, UVA, UCLA the slowest.
This is based on possessions per game.

🫡 A year ago… we talked about putting together a roster that could press for 40 minutes, a need for a point guard that could enhance the players around them, a must have efficient back to basket post player and complimentary pieces to surround returning contributors (Bailey, Denae & Jalynn)…
👏 We finish with a team of 9 Seniors that is 26-8, best start in program history at 19-0 (and tied longest win streak), First NCAA Tournament bid since 2013, first NCAA First Round Win in 21 years, 4-0 against the Top 3 teams in the Big 12, 12+ weeks in the Top 25 rankings… a Silver medal in the World University Games and the list goes on!
‼️ This team is one that I’ll remember forever! The work was worth it! Each of our players have locked in their legacy in Lady Raider Basketball history.
