Grateful and blessed to be named the new HC at Bosco Tech. Super excited to be coaching in my own backyard and to be given the opportunity to lead at such a cultured school and program @SGVNSports @James_Escarcega @latsondheimer @silasbravo_ @LA__WCP @pollonpreps

Longtime Pasadena boys basketball coach Tony Brooks told me this morning he is resigning to enjoy retirement.
He wrote a statement for Bulldogs fans and supporters.
“My connection to Pasadena High School basketball began when I was eight years old at "Bulldog Camp". Being a Bulldog meant so much more than just playing basketball. It meant developing a brotherhood among the players, it meant understanding the importance of being a true "student athlete", and it meant striving for a goal that required a collective effort amongst the team and sacrificing your own glory for the benefit of the team. " King D"
This philosophy has led to over 266 wins in 12 years, 11 Pacific League Championships, Two CIF Division 1 Runner up, Two CIF State Regional Finals and over 15 Division 1 and Division II Scholarships.
As a ballboy and a player, I learned the importance of hard work and dedicating yourself to perfecting your skills. As an assistant coach and ultimately a head coach, I made sure that each player understood that there were great lessons that had to happen for success to follow. No sacrifice, no success.
Each player understood to be great sons, great students and great ballplayers.
My coaching has given me so much fulfillment and value in my life. The friendships and relationships have added so much to my family.
I absolutely love my players.
But at this point it is time to look to the next phase of my life. I am thankful for all of the parents that helped support the program by supporting their sons as well as all of the team members. I am thankful for all of the coaches that worked so hard and dedicated so much time for the players. I am thankful for my beautiful wife, Sherrie who was the best "coaches wife" any coach could wish for. I would like to thank George Terzian, the coach that started it all, I would like to thank Bill Duwe for his guidance and mentorship, and I would like to thank Tim Tucker for his brotherly support. It has been an honor to be a part of the legacy of Pasadena Basketball.
With this letter, I am announcing my retirement from Head coach at Pasadena boys basketball.
God, Family, Dogs!!

Steve Kerr shares what made Gregg Popovich and Phil Jackson such great coaches.
"What I loved about both of them - they're very different from one another, but they both had the same quality."
"You knew they cared about you. You could feel that they loved you and they cared about you. But you were a little afraid of them."
"Just a little bit. Almost like you'd feel about a parent."
They had that great balance of warm and demanding.
Then he clarified:
"Not afraid physically, but you were afraid to disappoint them. That's probably the better way to put it."
The sweet spot: care and accountability.
"They both cared so deeply about me and my family. They knew everything about my life. They asked questions. They were more engaged and more involved with me than any coaches I ever had."
"Knew all my kids' names. That stuff matters."
"And then at practice, if you weren't on it, you were gonna hear it...What a great combination."
They loved you enough to know you.
They loved you enough to push you.
That's the balance every leader should aim for - care so deeply that people are afraid to let you down.

@ryanmcfadden_ Take the DT and give Ruggs a second chance with restrictions and provisions

What do y’all think #Raiders will do with the pick No. 36? Feels like WR or DT is the direction they will take.

Geno Auriemma shares what he looks for in recruits and his non-negotiables.
"When I watch them play...plays their butt off every possession. They come down here, they get a rebound, they outlet it, and they get a layup at the other end. Then they run back, block a shot, go down the other end. And they just play like that the whole game."
That's the first filter - Effort. Every possession. No plays off.
"Are they unselfish? Are they a great teammate?"
"When they get subbed out of the game, do they go sit at the end of the bench, put a towel on? Or are they involved in the game?"
He looks at your body language and how you act as a teammate. Because that shows your character.
"Are they the kind of person that I want at my house for dinner? Are they the kind of kid that's gonna go to class all the time?"
Effort. Unselfishness. Body Language. Great Teammate. Character.
You recruit for who they are - not just what they can do.

Geno Auriemma has won 12 national championships at UConn. UConn is currently 38-0, trying to win their 13th. When Geno is recruiting, certain things instantly disqualify a recruit - no matter how talented. Here's what they are and what he looks for: (📌Bookmark this)

@Th3DarthRaider If you had to gamble on a receiver.

If the Raiders don’t build around Mendoza (the offense)
They are just setting him up for failure.
Jeanty and Bowers are great.
But there are no WR’s worth a damn/proven on this roster.
The year is 2026… receivers matter.
Also, right tackle matters. Glaze isn’t it.
And while there are a ton of guards on the roster… outside of JPJ they are all unproven/lack talent. The one that can change that is Rogers but that remains to be seen.
I think this draft you have to give Mendoza some guys to work with. Defensively the needs are there.. nose tackle/FS/CB but as of now you made a lot of big moves in FA defensively to fix some holes.
