We recently visited Cassell Fine Arts School on Chicago’s South Side to speak with students about online safety. During the session, students learned how to protect themselves on social media and while gaming online, including how to recognize and avoid common vulnerabilities. If you’re interested in having the Cook County Sheriff’s Office host a similar event in your community, please contact us at CCSO.CommunityEngagement@ccsheriff.org #OnlineSafety #InternetSafety #CyberSafety #CommunityOutreach #CookCountySheriff

A 24-year-old Hickory Hills woman has been charged after a Cook County Sheriff’s Police investigation found she texted pornographic images to a juvenile. On Feb. 9, Sheriff’s Police began an investigation after receiving a report that a juvenile had received a pornographic photo and video as well as threatening and racist text messages. Investigators learned that Megan Chladek had intentionally sent the images of herself engaging in sex acts with another adult to the child as well as to other adults. They also learned that while the depicted acts were consensual, the other individual did not grant permission to share the images of them. On March 12, investigators with the Special Victims Division's Cyber Trafficking and Internet Crimes Against Children units took Chladek into custody. On March 14, the Cook County State’s Attorney’s Office charged her with Distribution of Harmful Material to a Minor and Non-Consensual Dissemination of Private Sexual Images. Chladek was ordered released from custody on March 15 following her initial court appearance at the George N. Leighton Criminal Courthouse. The public is reminded that defendants are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law. #CookCountySheriff #LawEnforcement #CCSPD

Last month, Cook County Sheriff’s Police Sgt. Kevin Johnson was driving on southbound Interstate 90 near 16th Street when he noticed an overturned vehicle and stopped to help. When he approached the scene, Sgt. Johnson saw a man lying on the ground who was not breathing and had no pulse. Without hesitation, he began performing CPR. After a second round of chest compressions, the man began breathing again and regained a pulse. Sgt. Johnson remained by the man’s side until paramedics and Illinois State Police arrived. We are grateful Sgt. Johnson was in the right place at the right time. His quick thinking and lifesaving actions exemplify what it truly means to protect and serve. #CookCountySheriff #PublicSafety #LawEnforcement #ServeAndProtect #CCSPD

A 20-year-old man attempting to hand roll a cannabis cigar in sight of Sherif’s Police officers is facing a felony after he was found illegally possessing a firearm. At approximately 5:40 p.m. on March 10, Community Safety Team members were conducting premise checks on the 87th Street CTA Red Line platform when Tristen Carrizales walked toward one of the officers while rolling what appeared to be cannabis cigar. Officers stopped him to conduct a narcotics investigation. While conducting a safety pat down, they recovered a loaded firearm equipped with a laser sight and ammunition on Carrizales’ person. He did not have a FOID card or a concealed carry license. Officers took Carrizales, of Riverdale, into custody, and the Cook County State’s Attorney’s Office charged him later that night with aggravated unlawful possession of a weapon. He was ordered to Cook County Jail custody on March 11 following his initial court hearing at the Geroge N. Leighton Criminal Courthouse. The public is reminded that defendants are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law. #CookCountySheriff #LawEnforcement #CCSPD
