There’s a difference between learning about somatics and learning how to work somatically in a coaching session. The Liquid Accordion is written to be practical with -clear distinctions, -usable frameworks, and -practices you can bring directly into your work. And on February 24, I’ll make it even more tangible in a 45-minute live Zoom session, including a practice I often use, followed by Q&A. Register here: liquidaccordion.com/?utm_source=x&…

For a long time, I coached from the neck up. I asked thoughtful questions and I listened carefully. But as I began working with somatics and embodiment, I saw how posture, breath, and physical organization were shaping every coaching session, whether I named them or not. Over time, somatics and embodiment reoriented how I understood presence in coaching and how clients responded to the work. If this resonates, you can learn more about somatic and embodiment-informed coaching or join my email list to be notified when the book releases on February 24th. liquidaccordion.com/?utm_source=li… #CoachingPractice #TheLiquidAccordion #SomaticCoaching

Over the last 5 years, I wrote a book about how to coach and lead in, with, and through the body. The Liquid Accordion: A Somatic and Embodiment Primer for Coaching In, With, and Through the Body for Coaches and Leaders Because this work is somatic, it isn’t meant to live on the page alone. To celebrate the launch, join me on February 24th for a live session with me at 3pm MT on Coaching Through the Body: Somatic Shifts That Help Your Clients. I’ll walk you through a practice from the book, so you can feel how it works in real time plus answer any questions you have. Your book is your ticket. I can’t wait to see you on Feb 24. Somatic and embodiment work gave me a different way to understand presence in coaching. It changed what became possible in sessions. Clients can understand their situation clearly and still find themselves returning to the same patterns. In my own coaching journey, I learned that this had less to do with motivation or clarity and more to do with how the body had organized the experience. Insight alone does not always lead to change. If you want to learn more download the Somatic and Embodiment Starter Kit now. liquidaccordion.com/starter-kit/?u… Then on February 10th The Liquid Accordion: A Somatic and Embodiment Primer for Coaching In, With, and Through the Body for Coaches and Leaders will be available. The book was written as a practical starting place for coaches who are curious about working with the body as part of their coaching practice. When a coaching session gets stuck in the story, I don’t ask better questions. I slow things down. The Scanner Technique shifts attention from what happened to how the body is holding it. That shift alone often changes the entire session. #TheLiquidAccordion #SomaticCoaching #leadershipflow

The Liquid Accordion is a metaphor for how the body lives. - We expand and contract. - We open and close. - We soften and brace. These movements are not random. They reflect - our history, - our biology, and - the situations we find ourselves in. In coaching, learning to see this ‘accordion’ at work gives you access to information that language alone often misses. If you want an introduction to this way of seeing, the Somatic and Embodiment Starter Kit offers a clear starting point. Mood is embodied. Different moods come with different postures, breathing patterns, and orientations toward the future. They quietly shape what a client believes is possible before any coaching begins. When coaches learn to recognize mood somatically, not just conceptually, they gain a powerful diagnostic tool. Not to label clients, but to understand what kind of support or challenge the moment is asking for. I’ve outlined the 8 basic moods of life and how they show up in the body for coaches who want to deepen this capacity. In coaching, change rarely happens all at once. It happens at Pivot Points. Small moments where attention, posture, breath, or mood reorganize just enough to open a new option. I’ve come to rely on four reliable pivot points in somatic work. They help me see: -when to stay with awareness -when to invite movement -and when not to intervene at all These pivot points are ways of orienting to what’s already happening. If you want an introduction to how I work with pivot points in sessions, I’ve shared a simple explainer here. I teach centering as a repeatable practice, not a personality trait. It’s something you can return to before - a meeting, - a session, or - a difficult conversation. Consider reading The Liquid Accordion as a way turn somatic and embodiment coaching into breakthroughs for your clients. One of the fastest ways to bring somatic awareness into a session is to slow down and scan. The Scanner technique is not about fixing anything. It’s about noticing. - Where is there effort? - Where is there holding? -Where is there ease? When clients learn to notice their own internal landscape, they stop overriding their experience and start working with it. I’ve shared more about the Scanner practice for those interested in bringing this kind of awareness into their work. @CroftEdwards This resonates deeply. I've noticed my biggest shifts came when I felt something change physically first, then the mental clarity followed.

Many clients are trying to think their way into change. Somatic and embodiment coaching offers another path: helping the body experience -safety, -orientation, and -possibility so that new thinking can emerge naturally. When the body reorganizes, insight often follows. Not the other way around. #EmbodiedChange #SomaticPractice #Coaching

Have you ever noticed how much of our language depends on the body to make meaning clear? Our language depends on the body to make meaning clear. We find a foothold, sink our teeth into something, or learn to stand on our own two feet. These phrases exist because experience is organized physically before it is explained. The body orients, stabilizes, reaches, withdraws, and commits long before language arrives. If the body already shapes how meaning is made, it belongs directly in our work.
