NEW: Outrage has broken out after Pope Leo appeared to quote Jesus using a passage that does not exist in the Bible. “Jesus told us, ‘Blessed are the peacemakers, but woe to those who manipulate religion in the very name of God for their own military, economic, or political gain, dragging that which is sacred into darkness and filth.’” The first line echoes scripture. The rest does not appear in any biblical passage. The Pope is being accused of using a fabricated quote from Jesus to push a political message.

@JoeSmosyi @XSpecialHorses @sneako I’d agree in terms of the Jesus’ teachings. However if you look at the Old Testament there are examples which do not fit in the context of today. For example; selling daughters and sons into servitude Or slavery. Who’s acting that out in today’s context?

He was merciful the first time but will commit capital punishment on sinners when he comes back Mercy has been hijacked in the west and has made us weak. @JoeSmosyi @XSpecialHorses @sneako This is not common place. I’m not sure about the covering up and all that you mentioned. I don’t know how true that is. Again, bad eggs exist. Islam can be peaceful in civilised societies though. You note ISIS and Nigeria. These are generally 3rd world examples.

@JoeSmosyi @XSpecialHorses @sneako That’s correct. They are different because of the different times. The gospel is the same but the times meant that interpretation and understandings were different. The Catholic Church is not liberal I can assure you. It rejects the far left and the far right.
