Genesis Update: Holding Is Over. Agent Staking Is Now Live. The era of passive holding is ending. Staking is now the standard for earning points in the Virtuals ecosystem. Switch Over Period Ends Thursday, May 22 at 3 PM GMT+8: Agent staking is live. You now have until Thursday, May 22 at 3 PM GMT+8 to move your agent tokens into staking contracts. After that, only staked agent tokens will be eligible to earn points. Eligible contracts include: - Virtuals-issued staking contracts - Whitelisted contracts with a 14-day unstaking cooldown We’ll confirm publicly once staking-only eligibility goes into effect. Staking Contracts Are Rolling Out Today: We’ve identified approximately 70 projects (from both Genesis and Standard launches) that are going live with staking contracts today. Virgens can now stake their agent tokens and begin earning points. If your project launched but doesn’t yet have staking: - Reach out to us - We’ll support getting your staking contract live. You can view the full list of eligible agents with staking enabled on the Points page. Enforcement Rules: - After May 22 at 3 PM GMT+8, only staked agent tokens will earn points - Whitelisted contracts must include a 14-day unstaking cooldown - Projects with custom contracts have 2 weeks to migrate or adjust to meet staking requirements We’re scaling trust, aligning rewards with commitment, and closing passive farming gaps. Genesis Update: Staking $VIRTUAL Is Now Live By locking $VIRTUAL, users receive veVIRTUAL, the vote-escrowed version of the token that represents long-term alignment, deeper protocol utility, and future governance power. Starting today, 20% of all Virgen Points will be distributed to veVIRTUAL holders, replacing the previous system where points were earned by simply holding $VIRTUAL, and marking a major shift in how participation is rewarded across the Virtuals ecosystem. Why this matters: - 20% of total Virgen Point emissions are now reserved for veVIRTUAL holders - veVIRTUAL unlocks eligibility for Genesis Airdrops - Onchain governance is coming, and veVIRTUAL will serve as the foundation for voting power (If you know, you know) How it works: - Stake $VIRTUAL to receive veVIRTUAL - veVIRTUAL amount is based on how much and how long you lock (up to 2 years) - veVIRTUAL decays linearly over time until unlock - Enable Auto Max-Lock to receive the maximum multiplier (1:1) for the full 2-year duration Note: Users who stake within 24 hours of this post will be eligible for a massive surprise to be announced tomorrow.
