One moment, it’s bull posting, then 1 hour later, “we're cooked.” The same recycled takes, "ETH is outperforming," every time ETH gains 2-3% on BTC, only to dump right after. Yet, these people get massive engagement with 0 clue or consistency. Sure, some made millions, but let’s be real, buying 100 BTC a decade ago because a friend told you so doesn’t make you an investment GURU. Not saying they don’t deserve their money, but the engagement? Jeez people need to wake up.

The Web3 space has become increasingly driven by inflated metrics rather than real value. Today, outside of liquidity controlled by large groups, success depends heavily on social visibility, especially on platforms like X. But the core issue is clear: there are no truly new users entering the space. The active audience is largely the same, and every project is competing for a share of that limited pool. At the same time, most projects lack real differentiation. Many are copy-paste versions of existing ideas, often solving problems that aren’t meaningful or relevant to new users. As a result, they fail to attract fresh demand which is the very thing the ecosystem needs to grow. This leads to a bigger problem: how projects approach awareness and growth. The standard playbook, ambassador programs, point systems, and KOL promotions has become ineffective. A large portion of KOLs on X operate on inflated numbers. Their reach is often boosted by bots, fake followers, and artificial engagement. They charge significant fees, yet deliver little to no real user conversion. In many cases, the ROI is effectively zero. Once results fall short, the blame shifts to the project, while the underlying issue, fake influence remains unaddressed. The reality is that only a very small percentage of KOLs provide genuine value through real communities and trust. The rest contribute to a cycle of short-term hype and long-term inefficiency. Until the space shifts its focus from vanity metrics to real users, real products, and real engagement, this pattern will continue to hold the industry back.
