One of my firmly held opinions is that if a sick kid in the hospital asks for ice cream or a soda and it's not, like, medically contraindicated, they should get it. Apparently this is now controversial.

To be clear, I am not talking about any currently clinically used drug here. I don’t think any currently clinically used drug is a good sustainable valence enhancer. I’m talking about a hypothetical future scenario (one which is unfortunately quite realistic).

Wage compression is real. Saw a comment from a supervisor in retail earning £0.4p per hour more than the staff he was supervising whose earn minimum wage. Assuming a 40 hour week that’s £64 more per month. All the extra aggro and stress of managing people for £64 extra? 😂

@timreay @_Unknown_D_ Since the supervisor hasn’t specified an absolute floor of what they’d be happy to earn - isn’t it actually in the company’s interest to cut their wages further?

The only way I can see is that they’d feel better off if the minimum wage floor was gone & the people they supervise earned much less.
