@Dene71 They hired Monica Bellucci for Spectre and then inexplicably only had her in it for ten minutes.

Leave it out, Tucker!
Remember going to NO TIME TO DIE with my pal and his wife--who said afterwards that Daniel Craig was too old for Léa Seydoux. Yep. He looked WAY too old for L.S. in NTTD. Could be father and daughter there, ffs.

@MonstersnAngels @aawayne @SarahKarlin You're using the extreme example to make your case. Right there says your full of it. How about maternity wards where breastfeeding moms get SOS and fruit cups and jello crap. Give me a break. Just serve healthy foods and stop resorting to lowest common denominator argument

One of my firmly held opinions is that if a sick kid in the hospital asks for ice cream or a soda and it's not, like, medically contraindicated, they should get it. Apparently this is now controversial.

@anarkissed__ @ericitaIiano I understand why and I didn’t had much of an issue but you have to admit it is hard finding someone to look exactly like Cushing minus the actor who played him in Episode III. Definitely looked like him

rewatching Doctor Sleep and it's essentially the perfect case study in simply recasting actors for iconic roles and not using creepy, uncanny de-aging technology

@Etanarachel Okay, well if you’re happy to explain to people who have been raped that, to your mind, they actually haven’t, then there’s not much more to be said here.

That isn’t rape either. It’s deep deep betrayal and it’s incredibly traumatic. But it’s not rape.

@deathbian If you were a member of a left wing organisation, and an undercover police officer were using a false identity to join, form a relationship with you to gain credibility and then spy on your organisation?

@CsoFringe I think we need a different word for what we call “rape by deception”.

@CsoFringe I think these women were abused deeply. They just weren’t raped. Rape is not the only evil thing that can happen during sex.

@CsoFringe it's not indifferent. it's just recognizing that this is an example of the *different scenario i acknowledged would qualify*, not *this one*

"i fully consented to sex based on what i knew. afterward, i found out something about this person that would have prevented me from consenting to sex with them" being accepted as "rape" is logic that makes all pre-breakup sex retroactively rape by whoever got dumped. the...

@deathbian I think your opinion is, at best, unreflective and is certainly indifferent to the profound horror these women went through with people they thought loved them (and even fathered children with them).

To be clear, I am not talking about any currently clinically used drug here. I don’t think any currently clinically used drug is a good sustainable valence enhancer. I’m talking about a hypothetical future scenario (one which is unfortunately quite realistic).

-Hey doc, why did you prescribe this anti-depressant which doesn’t work all that well and not that other one which works perfectly? -Because that other one would make you feel good. You aren’t provably depressed enough to warrant tolerating such a horrendous adverse effect.

@MrFearArmy @_Unknown_D_ Okay, I mean, that would be the company’s problem for not pricing the role competitively for the job market? It’s not the supervisor’s problem other than they’ve demonstrated they’ll work for £64 more than the people they supervise.

Wage compression is real. Saw a comment from a supervisor in retail earning £0.4p per hour more than the staff he was supervising whose earn minimum wage. Assuming a 40 hour week that’s £64 more per month. All the extra aggro and stress of managing people for £64 extra? 😂

@timreay @_Unknown_D_ Since the supervisor hasn’t specified an absolute floor of what they’d be happy to earn - isn’t it actually in the company’s interest to cut their wages further?

@timreay @_Unknown_D_ But this supervisor has demonstrated that they accept being paid *current minimum wage*+£64. So how would they be able to increase their wage? The only way I can see is that they’d feel better off if the minimum wage floor was gone & the people they supervise earned much less.
