@IanMWolfe @JonasPoggi The 70’s “outlier” is a three year period from 76-78 that had a homicide rate comparable to 2025, although with 50% higher numbers which reflects population difference

@DAS21784 @JonasPoggi Pop loss is a rounding error here in recent terms. Historically, there’s a very solid chance the per capita rate hits a level not seen since the 1960s this year. One very good outlier in the 70s was where we stopped last year, but we’re ~25% down YOY even off that.

@JonasPoggi The improvement since 2023 is encouraging. My point was 1) the Sun graph is mislabeled as rate when showing raw numbers, and 2) a graph of the 2015-2022 homicide rates would look worse than the graph of 2015-2022 raw homicide numbers, which was subsequently presented

Nope! Per capita homicide rate is the lowest it's been in 50 years also. Baltimore is the safest it's been in a generation.

@JonasPoggi The graph shows raw numbers, not the per capita homocide rate. As bad as the 2015-2022 numbers look, the rate is worse.

@OriolesIdiot @RJ7000_ @JonasPoggi They misread my comment, assuming that I was erroneously suggesting that the homicide rate had not tracked with the raw numbers. Highlighting the 2021 historical high also glosses over how terrible the homicide persisted thru 2022 (>58)

Electric first 10 mins in KC between Argentina and Algeria. Two goals, both wiped out by off-sides. Legit calls, I get it. But if soccer could ever figure out how to just "loosen" off-sides a bit, to produce far more "hockey score" outcomes, I'd be in. I am now ready to be yelled at by everybody who already loves the "beautiful game" as it is.

@JonasPoggi Bad verb tense. Pointing out that the 2022 rate was even worse than the raw numbers represented. The 2022 rate was the historic worst. The improvement in both numbers and rate since 2023 is promising. Still much higher than most jurisdictions in Maryland.

WATCH: Vice President JD Vance dropped an absolute truth bomb. NBC News’ Kristen Welker: “If President Trump’s agenda is so popular, why do Republicans need to add additional seats to the map?” VANCE: “Why have Democrats gerrymandered their states aggressively over the past 10-20 years… Massachusetts, where 32% of the residents of Massachusetts voted for Republicans. ZERO Republican federal representatives.” “All we’re doing, frankly, is trying to make the situation a little bit more fair on a national scale.”

@CarterElliottIV The Banner article article acknowledged or confirmed much of the Sun series, failed to address several of the discrepancies in narrative and verified records, and did not refute any of discrepancies. Takes a lot of chutzpah and zero self-awareness to claim vindication

“After months of attacks from a right-wing billionaire Trump ally, it’s great to see a local news organization committed to presenting the facts around Governor Moore’s military record: that his military service is not in doubt,” said Maryland Democratic Party Chairman Steuart Pittman. “This story shows the difference between journalism and a political hit job from the man who told Donald Trump ‘we are here to deliver your message.’ Governor Moore served this country with honor, he was commended for it, and he has earned our respect.”

Seen this before: Elected officials say one thing BEFORE getting elected... then change positions AFTER getting elected. Baltimore City's two elected school board members supported transparency in 2022. Now, they won't interview with Fox45. What changed? Link in comments:

@FOXBaltimore The state’s legislative mandated energy policy does not meet the need of the 2026 energy market, nor future market requirements. Supply and distribution paradigm is outdated and misguided, making Maryland increasing less competitive, both regionally and nationally

Maryland energy leaders are increasingly questioning whether the state’s involvement with the nation’s largest regional power grid is still serving consumers as electricity bills rise and demand surges across the Mid-Atlantic. bit.ly/4xu0ano
