@TrantPj29506 @berniemoreno No they don’t. Those were clean single item funding bills for TSA, CISA, USCG, SS, & FEMA. Until the end of the fiscal year. ICE is already funded to the end of the year. So funding TSA doesn’t defund ICE.

To be clear, we can fund DHS today. Democrat Senators are crushing 260,000 working class American families because of what they believe were the bad actions of a few. The add insult to injury, these same Senators refuse to give up their own paycheck. Disgraceful.
U.S. Senator John Fetterman@SenFettermanPA

This morning at PIT, so many TSA employees expressed their appreciation for standing with them and shared their financial hardship. End this ridiculous DHS shutdown NOW. Pay these hardworking TSA agents and all DHS employees who collectively keep our country more secure.

@berniemoreno To be clear; ICE is operating on a $75 billion slush fund (normal budget is $10b) and Republicans are blocking Democrats from passing funding for TSA, Coast Guard, FEMA etc...

@EricLDaugh Rick Scott was compensated with ~$350 million in stock & options + salary while perpetrating the largest Medicare fraud in history. The Founding Fathers required a Congressional salary precisely so people like Rick Scott could not use it as a weapon against non-wealthy members.

🚨 JUST IN: Sen. Rick Scott reveals a Democrat SENATOR complained he can’t miss his $174,000 paycheck because of his mortgage TSA makes around $50,000 “Well, WHAT ABOUT TSA?!” Senators should get a $0 PAYCHECK until TSA is paid. No excuses!

Is there anything worse than a crying baby on a plane? I wish parents would control their children. It’s so disruptive. I refuse to believe a baby cries for 10 hours. At some point this is just bad parenting, right?

Fetterman needs to go. Republicans are blocking bills to fund TSA, FEMA and the Coast Guard which they already agreed to. ICE already operating on 2x their normal budget, and Republicans are holding the other agencies hostage until they get 3x with no accountability.
U.S. Senator John Fetterman@SenFettermanPA

This mayhem came from a very specific choice to shut DHS down. Pure mass chaos that I refuse to vote for. Can you imagine what this must be like for the UNPAID TSA employees and people that are desperate to make their flight??

@SenFettermanPA How about you call on Republicans to pass the TSA and other non-ICE agencies that have already been negotiated? Especially since ICE, apparently, is in no urgent need of money since they already have twice their normal budget and can now do TSA's job too.

@imzadi_hkr @SenatePPG The 2 main variables of compensation are: amount and cadence... Would any serious person believe that changing the cadence of pay does not "vary" their compensation? No. It would also betray the entire reasoning behind Art 1. Sec 2 described in the Federalist Papers.

Senator Kennedy asked unanimous consent that S.Res.526 (A resolution withholding the pay of Senators if a Government shutdown occurs) be agreed to. The unanimous consent request was objected to.

🚨 JUST IN: Sen. John Kennedy pushes for another RECONCILIATION bill to fund DHS and ICE, which doesn't need a SINGLE solitary Democrat vote! "It would take 50 votes plus Vice President [Vance]." "We ought to surprise ourselves and DO SOMETHING INTELLIGENT. Have it open within a week!"

@imzadi_hkr @SenatePPG You are not getting it. 1) The Bill is unconstitutional b/c a mandated delay is a variance in compensation, impermissible under the 27th amndt; AND, 2) There is no real pain proposed; BUT, 3) He could donate or delay himself without a law; SO, The bill is virtue signaling bs

Yes, a member of Congress can request the House Chief Administrative Officer (or Senate equivalent) to withhold or defer their pay during a shutdown, to be released afterward. This is common practice—multiple lawmakers have done exactly that in recent shutdowns (e.g., Steil, Latta, Kim, and others in 2025-2026). It doesn't waive the pay (which the Constitution requires) but simply delays disbursement.

@imzadi_hkr @SenatePPG And here's the *real* tell that Kennedy is lying to you legislatively... Kennedy *CAN* legally make a charitable donation to the US Government for the purpose of reducing the debt. No law needed! Just tell all of the Republicans posing around this bill to donate their salaries

@smilerz91 @alexcerne @ArlanKels @BadLegalTakes You don't understand what any of that meant, or how the same ICRC rule is incorporated into international laws that do apply to us and reflected in our domestic laws. I don't care that you don't understand; fascinated that people like you can function in society.

@smilerz91 @alexcerne @ArlanKels @BadLegalTakes "There is no law" -> citation of the law "That's not how the law is applied" -> example of the law being applied "Nothing ever happens" -> example of something happening Aaaaand ICRC Rule 14 is recognized as part of CIL and is mirrored in DOAC and embedded in the RoE.

This is wild. Senate debate was shut down just now because, in the middle of John Kennedy's speech, Brian Schatz objected and then immediately left the chamber. So now nobody knows what to do. We are being governed by incompetent idiots.
