🏆 The Final Eight are confirmed for SLAM 2026. It started with 77 teams from over 30 countries submitting written pleadings on a complex anti-doping dispute, then arguing before expert advocates in the oral qualification rounds. 16 teams progressed to the Regional Oral Finals, arguing before panels of CAS arbitrators. Now, 8 teams make the journey to Lausanne. On 23–24 April, they will compete in the quarter-finals, semi-finals, and Grand Final at the Court of Arbitration for Sport — the same hearing rooms where landmark sports law disputes are decided every day. The Grand Final takes place alongside the 2nd Edition of our International Dispute Resolution in Sport Conference — bringing together leading practitioners, arbitrators, and sports executives for a full day of panels and discussion on the most pressing issues in sports dispute resolution. See here for more information and to register for the conference: bit.ly/4c0ySw4 Congratulations to all eight teams. And thank you to every judge, coordinator, and participant who made this edition possible — the standard this year has been exceptional. Read the press release here: bit.ly/4cef4UK #SLAM2026

We are deeply grateful to Ricardo De Buen, a distinguished international sports Lawyer and CAS Arbitrator, for his invaluable contributions to FLAM 2025. He delivered an insightful session on Examining the Jurisdiction of the Court of Arbitration for Sport in Breach of Contract Claims, offering participants a clear and practical understanding of one of the most critical areas of international sports dispute resolution. His analysis was both rigorous and accessible, bridging doctrine with real-world application. In addition, Ricardo served as the Head of the Mediation Panel, where his leadership, experience, and measured approach ensured a high standard of engagement and professionalism throughout the mediation proceedings. He also contributed as a member of the Arbitration Panel, bringing depth, balance, and judicial precision to the evaluation process. His involvement across multiple stages of the competition greatly enriched the learning experience for all participants. We sincerely appreciate his time, expertise, and commitment to advancing sports law education. His contributions reflect a meaningful investment in the development of the next generation of sports lawyers and the continued growth of Sports Law in Africa.

An excerpt from Ricardo De Buen, @DEBUEN, (CAS Arbitrator and International Sports Lawyer) on the red carpet. Ricardo De Buen spoke glowingly of the competition and its organizers, expressing sincere appreciation for their efforts in creating a structured platform dedicated to the education, exposure, and practical training of young and emerging sports lawyers. He acknowledged the importance of initiatives such as this in shaping the future of sports law practice, particularly within developing jurisdictions. Beyond the red carpet moments, De Buen delivered an insightful and experience-driven presentation addressing several critical issues in international sports dispute resolution. His session was primarily focused on the jurisdiction of the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS), enriched by practical examples drawn from over two decades of hands-on experience in sports arbitration and international sports law practice. It was truly an honour to host an arbitrator of De Buen’s calibre. His participation reflects the depth, relevance, and intellectual rigor of the discussions the Football Law Annual Moot (FLAM) continues to facilitate, reinforcing its growing role in advancing sports law education and development in Africa and beyond.
