Today marks 47 years of the Taiwan Relations Act. This enduring partnership remains the cornerstone of peace and stability in the Indo-Pacific. 🇹🇼🇺🇸  As we face rising challenges, Taiwan must demonstrate our resolve and commitment to safeguarding our democracy and working with like-minded partners to ensure a free and open future. Appeasement only invites further aggression. We urge the opposition to pass the National Defense Special Budget Act to secure Taiwan's freedom and democracy.

April 7th is #FreedomOfSpeechDay in Taiwan; the occasion commemorates the selfless sacrifice of political activist #NylonCheng in 1989. We reflect upon the importance of safeguarding Taiwan's civil liberties and the democratic way of life. We defend our sovereignty and stand with global partners to ensure peace through strength. #Democracy is the cornerstone of Taiwan’s future.

30 years ago today, #Taiwan held its 1st direct presidential election, as voters bravely cast their ballots despite China's military intimidation. The will of the people guided our journey to a resilient democracy—and continues to drive our commitment to freedom today.

Grateful to @POTUS & @takaichi_sanae for reaffirming that peace & stability across the #Taiwan Strait are indispensable to regional security & global prosperity. We deeply value the US & Japan’s efforts to uphold the status quo, enhance cooperation & maintain robust deterrence.

Preparedness is vital to security. At today’s Whole-of-Society Defense Resilience Committee meeting, we advanced plans to build regional disaster relief corridors and enhance our Central Joint Emergency Operation Center to boost readiness across #Taiwan.

15年前的今天，311大地震襲擊日本。那場災難帶走了無數珍貴的生命，也讓我們從災難中記取教訓。我們看到日本為災後重建所付出的努力與汗水，並向所有投入災後重建的人們表達由衷的敬意。 台灣與日本在遭逢天災與疫情時，始終互相伸出援手。從921大地震、311大地震、COVID-19疫情，到去年的花蓮馬太鞍堰塞湖災害，一次又一次感動彼此。台日之間一次又一次互相捐贈救援物資與設備，彼此扶持、令人動容。 期盼未來台灣與日本持續深化災防、社會韌性等合作，延續台日深厚情誼，繼續成為互助互信的重要夥伴。

15年前の今日、東日本大震災が日本を襲いました。この災害で多くの尊い命が失われ、私たちに深い教訓を残しました。震災後の復興に向けて懸命に努力を重ねてきた日本の方々に、心より敬意を表します。 台湾と日本は、自然災害や感染症に直面した際、常に支え合い、助け合ってきました。921大地震から東日本大震災、COVID-19の流行、そして昨年の花蓮馬太鞍のせき止め湖決壊災害に至るまで、台日は救援物資や機材を互いに送り合い、幾度となく支え合ってきました。その姿は、多くの人々の心を動かしてきました。 これからも台湾と日本が防災や社会のレジリエンス分野で協力を深め、台日の深い絆を受け継ぎながら、互いに信頼できる重要なパートナーであり続けることを願っています。
