@D_P_Warren Yes. To understand the here and now and the future we need to understand the past. We need to from the mistakes made in the past abd put them into practice. Still so much that has not been uncovered.

During the Wanli period of the Ming Dynasty(1572-1620), copperplate engraving was introduced to China by the Italian missionary Matteo Ricci. The paintings, book illustrations, and religious copper engravings he carried with him provided the Chinese with a new artistic reference system. This marked the true beginning of cultural exchange between Chinese and European fine arts. Impacted by Western copperplate engravings, Chinese woodblock prints began to show influences of realism in their aesthetic expressions, leading to the creation of a Gu Su (Suzhou) style that fully embraced Western techniques. 🎨 The Picture of the Everlasting Bridge of Suzhou(姑蘇萬年橋圖)
