@BeesterGee @HistoryGirlBW @bo66ie29 On pretty much any metric - life expectancy and general health, housing quality, food quality, etc - people are vastly better off now than they were in the 1920s. Even if you were an aristocrat then, no antibiotics and no vaccines against polio, measles, etc.

@HistoryGirlBW @bo66ie29 A coherent monoculture that reflected Cecil Rhodes comment that 'To borne a Englishman was to have come first in the lottery of life'. Sadly, if he could look around at the country today, I doubt he would be moved to say that now.
