Echoes reminded me of the funniest thing that ever happened to me 😂 So one day my mum sent me to the market to buy a few things, nothing serious, just a quick run. On my way back I entered one bus, the normal Lagos type where conductor is already shouting “enter with your change ooo” like your life depends on it. I just sat down quietly, tired and minding my business, thinking I’ll just reach house in peace… not knowing I had entered episode 1 of a full movie 😭 So this woman entered the bus with full authority. You know those people that don’t just enter a place, they ARRIVE. She sat down and immediately started a phone call on highest speaker volume. “HELLO?? CAN YOU HEAR ME??” — everybody in the bus could hear her, even people outside the bus. She was dragging somebody like they owed her destiny. “YOU THINK YOU CAN PLAY WITH ME?? ME??” Omo at that point I just adjusted myself, because I knew peace had left that bus already 😂 Few minutes later, conductor started collecting his money. I brought mine out, simple. The woman too dipped her hand inside her wrapper to bring her money… then suddenly she paused. Looked at her hand. Looked at the conductor. Looked back at her hand again. Next thing, this woman screamed “AHHHH!!!” I’m not even joking, the entire bus shook. Driver almost jam brake. My heart skipped. She shouted again, “MY MONEY!!! WHERE IS MY MONEY???” Omo immediate tension. One man said “Madam calm down…” she said “CALM DOWN KE?? SOMEBODY HAS STOLEN MY MONEY!!!” 😭 Before I could even process what was going on, this woman just turned and pointed at me like she had been waiting her whole life for that moment. “YOU!!!” 💀 Omo my soul left my body. Me?? Of all people?? She said she saw me shifting when she entered. SHIFTING??? Is it now illegal to adjust your body in public transport again?? 😭 I said “Madam I didn’t take anything o…” She said “Open your bag!” At that point the whole bus turned to court. Everybody faced me. One guy even said “open it na if e sure for you.” Omo peer pressure wan finish me 😭 I opened my bag with shaking hands… it was just books, foodstuff, random things… nothing else. She looked confused for some seconds, but she was still not ready to let go. She said “then where is my money??” And that’s when the God I serve decided to show Himself 😂 As she was talking and adjusting her wrapper… her phone fell out. Then her MONEY followed it. 💀💀💀 I swear on everything, there was like 5 seconds of silence. The type where everybody is processing stupidity. Then the bus exploded with laughter 😂😂😂 The driver started laughing, conductor sat down on someone’s lap just to laugh, one man was slapping the seat shouting “MADAMMMM” even me that almost became thief, I didn’t know when I started laughing like a mad person 😭 The woman just froze there. No phone call again. No shouting again. Just quiet regret. She picked her money slowly like nothing happened and sat down. Peace returned immediately 😂 As I was about to get down, the woman tapped me and said “sorry my son, na old age cause am” 😭 Till today, I still laugh when I remember this because imagine say I no talk… I for don become bus thief because of somebody wey forget say her money dey inside wrapper 😂😂😂 Let me know if my story made you laugh too 🌚
